What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?
Lefty's Right Mind is meant to inspire and encourage others to live out their dreams. We're here to prove that with grit, resourcefulness, and discipline, anything is possible. No matter what your story looks like, if you believe, it can be done.
How do you support other female founders and women in business?
Whether a fellow female is looking for advice, networking, or a chat, my door is always open. I wouldn't be where I am today without the support from others, so in return, I've made a moral commitment to value the importance of paying it forward. I cherish each and every individual that's brought me to today - I will never take that support for granted. It's not about the product or service for me, but more so the who behind the mission. However I can positively impact someone's journey, I'll do whatever I can - I'm game for it all.
What lesson or skill did you take with you from a prior job to help you succeed in your role today?
My background in fashion and graphic design is invaluable. I'm able to apply the fundamental training from my earlier years to every single project that comes our way. From design meetings to graphic design technicality to sampling, tech packs, and production, there is no better teacher than experience.
How did you land your first client?
HUSTLE. I did (and still do!) whatever it takes to convince someone to give me a chance. I couldn't pinpoint my "first" client even if I wanted to. The business that you see today has been building since 2009. It has taken on a variety of names, several iterations of logo design, and too many "missions" to count, to get to where we are today. My "first" client was most likely "a favor" in exchange for experience. I bartered monetary exchange for a long time, just to get in the door. Eventually, my friend Rachel convinced me to start an Instagram page showcasing all the hand-crafted cards and paintings I was creating for friends- so I did.
When did LRM start to evolve? It was 2016 when a friend from high school reached out to have bridesmaid jackets painted for her wedding. My first big, holy crap moment was when an email came through from Neiman Marcus with a subject line reading "Christian Louboutin." That's when the business started to get interesting.
