Founder: Nicole Pearl PR & Consulting
What's your elevator pitch? (Ie. In one sentence, what do you do?)
I help small business founders in the beauty, fashion, wellness and lifestyle industries own their PR, build lasting media relationships and get press without spending a fortune using my insider access from my 20+ years as a national journalist.
What's your story? Share how you got to where you are and WHY it is you do what you do.
Before I was a PR coach, I built my personal brand "The Beauty Girl" from scratch. And I learned something game-changing—the more visibility I got, the easier everything else became: sales, opportunities, credibility. It was like flipping a switch. But I also saw so many talented small business owners getting skipped over simply because they didn’t have the insider knowledge like I did or a big PR budget to play with.
That's why I'm now sharing it all—including the same strategies and tools I use to land segments as a beauty expert on national shows like TODAY and ExtraTV and on regional shows throughout the US. My mission is to even the playing field, and as an award-winning PR coach, I'm committed to breaking down barriers and empowering you so you can become the brand the press (and your dream audience) can't stop talking about.
Like I always say, "Beauty Shouldn't Be a Bitc%...and neither should getting on TV."
What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?
Empowerment. I can go on about this but ultimately all of the highs & lows end up empowering me in some way, shape or form.
How do you support other female founders and women in business?
I’m am their cheerleader, their megaphone, their connector, their collaborator, their brainstorm partner and their listener.
What are three podcasts you listen to that have helped you with your business?
Dear Foundher (obvi)
Amy Porterfield
The Goal Digger
What is ONE BOOK that you would recommend every female business owner read?
I’m just starting it now: 10x is Easier Than 2x - Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan.
Who is a female entrepreneur you look up to and why?
Laurie Segall; she’s smart and fearless and a trailblazer.
What are the first five things that you did when you were starting your business?
Set up LLC. Though I haven’t yet officially named this biz! I have an idea though and it’s on my agenda.
Get my website URL, domain, IG handle, etc.
Created a logo.
Made an announcement on my platforms & in communities introducing my new biz.
Created a lead magnet to grow my newsletter.
Who is someone who has helped change or shape your business for the better and what did they do to help you?
I never force my biz. I let it shape organically and then go full steam ahead once proven. It’s a very small group of 2-4 other female entrepreneurs who I confide in, lean on and brainstorm with. I consider them my lower partners. You are my OG power partner. There’s another woman who I meet with as a business coach a couple of times a year to help me streamline my offer stack and get out of my own way.
At what point did you make your company a full time gig? How did you know the time was right?
I had my first client 48 hours after announcing this new biz on Clubhouse and have been going ever since.
What lesson or skill did you take with you from a prior job to help you succeed in your role today?
No means not right now. I am resilient and don’t take things personally.
Let’s talk social media—who handles it for your company (you, an internal team member, an outsourced solution?) and what is the secret to making it successful? What is the biggest challenge?
Me! Storytelling and being REAL and VULNERABLE.
How did you land your first client?
I established myself as a leader in the media space on Clubhouse so when peeps learned that I was showing up as a PR coach, they reached out.
What is something you do differently from the industry standard?
I give access in a way that no one else does and provide insights and strategy from my own career experience that you just can’t compete with.
What would you do differently if you were starting your business today?
Set up systems from the get-go. That is my weakness.
What are three strategies you use to market your business, grow brand awareness and generate bottom line growth?
Social media.
Speaking in communities.
Low-ticket offers that get people into my orbit so they get to know me and see that I’m the “real deal” or “PR Yoda” as some of my clients have called me.
What was an obstacle you overcame to get your business where it is today? Please share the story behind it.
The fact that I’m a bootstrapping solopreneur who is a mom is its own obstacle. I have to be scrappy, gritty, tenacious, resilient and creative to grow my biz. Most important, when I start to have doubt or feel defeated because I’m not the loudest in the room, I have to step out of myself and focus on the tasks for the day to keep going. That said, the testimonials and notes I get from my clients are really what enable me to puff up my chest because I’m all about transparency, and you can’t knock results.
What are three actionable tips you would give with other women who want to start a business or are just getting started?
If you don’t follow up you are leaving money on the table. This applies to every aspect of your biz.
Get comfortable with your elevator pitch.
Figure out your Cinderella story.
