What's your elevator pitch? (Ie. In one sentence, what do you do?)

I create clothing and swimwear that helps nursing and pumping mothers feel a little more normal and confident in the early years.

What's your story? Share how you got to where you are and WHY it is you do what you do.

Kelsey Garlock is a mom of three girls and founder of Movemama Apparel. Her breastfeeding journeys were filled with challenges like low supply, tongue ties, and a lack of education and confidence. With the support of lactation consultants, she finally saw progress and had to work hard, often pumping around the clock and struggling with nursing in public. She found herself constantly undressing, feeling cold and exposed, and frustrated with covers that didn’t work.

What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?

Being a FoundHer means that my kids get to see me live out this passion as well. I truly created a product I believed in and that changed my own motherhood journey.

How do you support other female founders and women in business?

I love being able to share advice around what built up this business to be successful from an idea.

What are the first five things that you did when you were starting your business?

  1. Get setup legally

  2. Start the instagram account

  3. Find others to share the product with

  4. Realize I wish I had this when I was starting out as a mom.

At what point did you make your company a full time gig? How did you know the time was right?

As it grew, I grew with it and fell into the role. I knew from the start I wanted it to succeed because I believed in it.

What lesson or skill did you take with you from a prior job to help you succeed in your role today?

As an expert in retail, this really fit with the new business I had!

What are three strategies you use to market your business, grow brand awareness and generate bottom line growth?

  1. Affiliates

  2. Social media

  3. Connecting with moms
