Who is Jordan Engelhardt?

Jordan Engelhardt founded Skinny Mixes in 2009 in her mother’s kitchen when she was determined to give her favorite cocktail mixes a healthier makeover. Skinny Mixes and its female-led team are innovating the beverage industry with better-for-you options. Jordan’s goal has always been to empower people to make healthier choices from their morning coffee to their evening cocktail, without sacrificing flavor. Skinny Mixes is the leading brand for low calorie and low sugar syrups and mixes, and has been featured in Food & Beverage Magazine, BevNet, New York Post, and many more.

Today, Skinny Mixes offers a wide range of over 100 products from flavor bursts for on-the-go use, to all-natural margarita mixes and much more. Jordan’s favorite products include the Sugar Free Cotton Candy Syrup, the Sugar Free Salted Dark Chocolate Espresso Syrup and the Salted Caramel Flavor Burst. To date, the original margarita mix from day one has sold 75 million bottles.

What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?

Jordan understands what it means to be a FoundHer for many reasons. Her mother fueled Jordan’s entrepreneurial spirit being her #1 taste tester and giving her a $5,000 loan to start Skinny Mixes. It took 18 months from the moment she had the idea to bring the product to life. Jordan was a motivated entrepreneur from the beginning, pitching her mixes to every bar and liquor store that would meet with her.

How do you support other female founders and women in business?

Jordan's Skinny Mixes has partnered with many female-founded brands as well as support businesses that support women. In 2022, Skinny Mixes partnered with NightCap, the viral brand for drink spiking prevention products. The female-founded brands joined forces to aid in stopping the spiking of drinks. At Expo West this month, Jordan and Skinny Mixes are hosting an event for female founders to attend. These are just a few examples of how Skinny Mixes supports female founders and female-founded brands!

Let’s talk social media—who handles it for your company (you, an internal team member, an outsourced solution?) and what is the secret to making it successful? What is the biggest challenge?

Jamie Zins is Skinny Mixes' Social Media Coordinator. The most important thing to keep in mind when it comes to social media is to keep up with the latest trends. For TikTok especially, certain sounds go viral for a short period of time, so it is important to jump on the trend right away and make a video that is relevant and that your followers will like. The biggest challenge is working with those viral sounds and making them connect to the brand in an authentic way.

How did you land your first client?

Her big break happened when she was picked out of a whole lineup of well established brands to be the featured margarita mixer at Bed Bath and Beyond.
