Who is Randee Kushner?

I am a special education teacher turned artist. I use my creativity to offer items you would never find in Target. I am transforming the Jewish wedding space.

In less than three sentences tell us about your company and what you do.

I am the artist and owner of Love & Latkes. Love & Latkes provides handmade modern judaica specializing in preserving your smashed chuppah glass. Small batch items for Jewish holidays and unique mezuzahs for anyone.

What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?

A FoundHER is a woman who owns her own business and understands the importance of helping others while they build their own business. A foundHER is creative, authentic, and savvy.

How do you support other female founders and women in business?

I look for ways to collaborate and promote. If it doesn’t feel right, I always am their biggest cheerleader. I believe networking is an ongoing relationship.

At what point did you make your company a full time gig? How did you know the time was right?

My full-time position at an Ed Tech company did a reorganization in January of 2023. I decided this was my moment to give my “small-business” everything I could to grow.

What lesson or skill did you take with you from a prior job to help you succeed in your role today?

In my previous role, tracking and customer relationships were essential. My art business requires impeccable tracking. I am handling one of the most loved traditions with couples, their smashed chuppah glass. I must communicate and collaborate with every customer which requires tracking and communication.

Let’s talk social media—who handles it for your company (you, an internal team member, an outsourced solution?) and what is the secret to making it successful? What is the biggest challenge?

I do the social media!

What is something you do differently from the industry standard?

My business takes a beautiful tradition and encapsulates into a forever piece. They are modern, unique, and represent a moment in time for couples.

What would you do differently if you were starting your business today?

I would start with more market research.
